Letter to
the Editor
Welcome to Tiverton
During the Groundbreaking
Ceremonies last November, 2002, I remarked that
the view from the site of The Villages on Mount
Hope Bay in Tiverton is one of the most beautiful
views in the state of Rhode Island. Thanks to the
vision and dedicated hard work of many people, another
beautiful view is that of our future in the town
of Tiverton.
The vision of The
Villages on Mount Hope Bay began back in the early
fall of 1999 when I first met Andy Ross and Arthur
Casey of New England Property Holdings. They saw
a vision of untapped potential and opportunity to
enhance the quality of life for our residents and
for those who wish to live in our beautiful and
historic town.
Nearly four years
later, we have a plan for our town of controlled
growth that will strengthen our economy and create
wonderful areas for people to live and to enjoy
the natural beauty of our area. Thanks to the commitment
of both Starwood Tiverton, LLC and New England Property
Holdings, LLC, we will not only have access to our
waterways, but also nave nearly three quarters of
a mile of public access to the waterway.
All of these developments
could not have occurred without close cooperation
between our dedicated volunteers and Starwood Tiverton.
From our Planning Board and our Wastewater Management
to the Economic Development and Conservation Commissions,
it has truly been a team effort.
From day one, we have
had confidence in the development team that was
coming to Tiverton because they are straightforward,
wonderful business people. Thank you, Starwood Tiverton,
for your committed investment in our town. I look
forward to working with you and all of our town
officials and volunteers to improve not only the
quality of life for the Tiverton residents today,
but for the Tiverton residents of tomorrow.
