Tiverton Four Corners
Becoming a Mecca for Arts, Entertainment, and Dining
From antiques and
fine art to decorative crafts and fine dining, Tiverton
Four Corners is rapidly emerging into a cultural
and entertainment mecca. In 1974, this special area
was placed on the National Register of historic
sites. This rural village's history dates from the
17th Century, but its attractions are growing every
year.
Part of the attraction
of Four Corners is the way it has deliberately retained
its rural charm and old New England character. One
of the moving forces behind the growing popularity
of the Coastal Villages area has been Jim and Rosalind
Weir. For the last 20 years, they have been renovating
several of the historic homes as well as building
new buildings which are compatible with the historic
setting. Their goal is to create a unique specialty
environment in this picturesque New England village.
Today visitors can
enjoy concerts, art exhibits, theater, art classes
and other family events or shop in a gourmet food
store, three gift and antique shops, a nationally
acclaimed art dealer, a garden ornament store, children's
toy and clothing stores, a needlepoint shop, an
antique lantern shop and an ice cream store.
Although previously
known primarily as a summer community, it's clear
now that the charming New England village of Tiverton
Four Corners is truly emerging as a year-round destination. |
